This post goes out to all you loyal Cougar supporters.
My husband can't sleep at night
He can't read enough on the Internet about the upcoming season
He's been counting the days since last December until football season begins again
He's been taking about "the month that touches the month when football begins"
He never wears the color RED
He says he only has one hobby and I'll bet you know what that is
He grew up in SLC and when passing a certain campus,
he would get down on the floor of the car and hide his eyes and plug his nose.
He was raised this way
He raised our kids the same way
He started watching them play before the current football stadium was even built,
back in the days when USU usually won

back in the days when USU usually won
We have lifetime seats on the 50 yard line that can be passed down to our kids
(this may cause an inheritance battle)
Once again he is going to most of the away games and the bowl game if they are so fortunate
He drives like a crazy maniac on game day trying to get to the game
He listens to the pre-game show and only listens to the post-game show if they win.
He listens to the game while he is watching the action
We loves to watch old games on TV

He keeps the season tickets in his "underwear" drawer where they will be the most safe
He has a certain routine he always follows on game day
He stayed to the end of the Miracle Bowl and watched the whole thing in person
All our kids are fanatics. Each and every one of them. Our sons-in-law are as well.
And so is our daughter-in-law. It was a prerequisite to joining our family.
I was a big fan in the beginning and then took a break for many years. I may return, as long as I can have some good treats at the concession stand. I also enjoy the marching band.

I was lucky when I gave birth to three babies in the fall during football season
that none of them were born on a game day
I'm pretty sure we live where we live because of BYU football
although this thought didn't occur to me until about 10 years ago
When we serve a mission some day, we'll have to schedule it around football season
You gotta hand it to Bronco.
I'm not sure if God cares about football, but someone I know wants to know:
Will there be football in heaven?

That's awesome!!! He should get some kind of honorary award for being such a true fan. I remember going to the games when I was a co-ed. Those were so fun! I was there during the Ty Detmer years and I remember the big T being written on the mountain above the Y after some great game. Good times. I hope for Rick there is football, and I hope for me there is ice cream when we get to the other side.
It wouldn't even be heaven if there wasn't football there!
Yes, there is football in heaven, as well as vanilla cones and mashed potatoes. I appreciate the football-themed post and can verify your spouse's game-day routine (leave at least 1 hour early, get the tickets, headphones, and binoculars; drive really fast, running at least one red light; park by the Bean Mus.; buy food at the Creamery and sneak it in; get to your seats in time for the prayer and national anthem; cheer like mad!). However, I do have one qualm: one cannot call oneself a true football fan if they admit to enjoying THE MARCHING BAND!!!!!!! Seriously, where is your dedication to the team? The marching band is simply something we must endure during halftime, and frankly it would be better if they had nothing, or a pee wee football team come on and play or something like that. I usually bring a magazine and sit there and read it. Oh, well, someday you will regain your full Cougar spirit. I am sad I am not going to any home games this year :('''''''' yes those are my tears
HELP ME RHONDA!!!!!!
I meant to say go Cougs! I wouldn't call myself a fanatic, but am definitely supportive of Jake's BYU hobby as he is supportive of me in return. I'm glad that Dad has you to go with him when there is no one else to do it!
Rick is as true blue cougar fan as they come. I'm proud to know him and call him my relative. Everyone should have such a passion. And I think I will take the Macey's t-shirts for my boys instead of the quest ones. Thanks for the post. I loved it. Ricky needs some mention of BYU football on his headstone
Thanks for the post, Vonnie!! It is now here, the best time of the year, the college football season. It's better than the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas presents, and all the other holidays rolled up into one! What a great, wonderful, magnificent time of year. I can't wait for the first game tomorrow. Only one thing - even with all that, the excitement is understated in the blog.
GO COUGARS!!!

I had Mike read this post, and he wanted me to comment that he thinks he has a better football life than Rick- with getting to watch Jake's freshman game on Wed or Thurs, Logan High's on friday night, Cam's game every Saturday, then BYU on Saturday (even though it's just on TV). The part that made him laugh was that it took you 10 years to realize that you lived in Provo/Orem because of BYU football!
Go cougars!
Jamie, he should get an award for being a true blue fan and I think most agree that there had better be football in heaven (Vernon the
4th especially.)
Claire, I do like the half-time shows! Although I do like to watch the game too. But why is it SO LONG. Coudn't the game just be over at half-time? I'm very sad you won't be able to attend any home game either, mostly because that means you won't be visiting us during football season. To heck with the game.
Annie, I know, I know.
Jord, Ok, so maybe you're not a fanatic, but you're a pretty devoted fan. I will go with him when he runs out of kids who can attend.
Lee and Mike, I do think we should have a BYU football on his headstone some day. Why it didn't occur to me earier as to why we live where we live, I do not know. I somehow thought it was more work related than sports related. Silly me.
All readers - watch for a post showing an example of what I am talking about, coming up very soon.
